3dfindit Plugin: Change location of exported parts

Modified on Fri, 4 Jul at 9:50 AM

Question:

Parts I inserted into my CAD system are saved in a default location of "C:\ProgramData\Plugin 3Dfindit\pool", but I would like them to be saved in another directory. Is this possible?

Answer:

Yes, this is possible.

There are two ways to change the location of the directory where the parts will be stored.

Method 1:

1. Run the installer file, 3df_plugin_installer.msi.

2. Select "Change".

3. Change the path under "CADENAS Pool" and click Next. Do not change anything else.

4. In the "Product Features" screen click "Change" and wait until the installer finishes.

5. Subsequent parts' export will be saved in the new location.

Method 2:

1. Navigate to the installation directory of the 3dfindit Plugin (default is "C:\Program Files\Plugin 3Dfindit")

2. Open start.env in Notepad (you need administrative rights to edit the file because C:\Program Files\ is a Windows protected directory)

3. Change the value under CADENAS_POOL (make sure you leave no trailing spaces or hidden characters) and do not change any other value.

4. Save the file.
